- Will this action lead to something that is significant for future. To elaborate on this point, please go through this small write up and video on Karma - Life through Karma.
- Automate/delegate what can be delegated. This is especially important. What someone else has the ability and is available can do, should do especially if you are overworked. If another family member can prepare breakfast or make coffee, so bit it, it does not always have to be you.
- Incentivise and understand the advantage of the task to get it out the way. Some tasks can be particularly challenging, and might tempt you to procrastinate. Understanding why the task is important and then probably awarding yourself when it done is a good exciting way to get things done especially if very boring or very challenging. For e.g, I have heard Shilpa Shetty the acclaimed fit Indian Film actress has a cheat day after following a strict diet through the week. Accomplish your work through the decided timeline, once done make sure to have fun or award your self.
- Find the most impactful ways to achieve a particular task, and that way is not ' hard work' in most cases. This seems to be like an important tip and even I need to work on it!
- Make small resolutions to start with: If the goal is a big goal, break it down into smaller chunks that can be accomplished, rather than not attempting the big goal at all. Find some way to measure the progress. Track progress in tools like Jira, personal diary, a chart. Whatever tracking method or tool works best for you, adopt it. Otherwise particularly personal projects once started are lost in translation and forgotten if not tracked to completion or towards a particular end state.
- Take baby steps, do a little, even if you don't feel upto it. To maintain the flow is important.
